The Brain Gym is a set of 26 movements or activities that are naturally done during the first few years of life. These are the movements a baby or young child learns to do such as moving the hands and eyes at the same time. The program was developed by Paul and Gail Dennison and they teach and help others to lean how these 26 movements can help improve memory, self-responsibility, academics, and more.
After a brain injury occurs certain functions don’t work and through hard work the injured person will relearn how to do those tasks that were lost through the injury. There are a number of different injuries that can occur causing this to happen. When the Brain Gym is used you’ll likely see the following.
• An increase in responsibility
• Encouraged to express yourself and to be creative
• Inspiration when it comes to activities and learning
• An increase in awareness in the value of life
There are so many others things you’ll find the Brain Gym can do for you, but the most important thing to remember is what changes you’ll see after a short about of time. These changes will help you or the injured person to have a better life.
What makes this program even better is the research that’s been done to prove it works. There were three publications that were done to summarize the research. There is the Brain Gym Global Observer, The Research Packet, and A Chronology of Annotated Research Study Summaries in the Field of Educational Kinesiolohy.
Scientific research has shown the research or experimental research was done and considered. There are two types of research that work well, one is called True Experimental Research and “Quasi-Experimental Research.
Articles are a good way to share information, but there haven’t been a lot related to the learning of the movements. These articles will prove the Brain Gym made a difference because if it didn’t then it happened by chance and that doesn’t work. Studies haven’t happened due to the cost associated with it.
When you use the study guide you’ll see an improvement when taking tests, during study time, and during school. You’ll also see an improvement in the following.
• Breathing and balance
• Quality of life
• Tremors
• Physical mobility
• Hearing
• Reading
