ELS4KIDS completed a F.R.E.E. webinar on:

“Language and Reading Comprehension in Children Q&A”

ELS4KIDS has had many requests to help children who struggle with issues similar to those mentioned above. I chose to work with Visualizing and Verbalizing (V/V) for a few reasons:

  1. V/V is a natural progression from brain training where visual processing and visual imagery are strengthened.

  2. V/V in combination with brain training programs such as BrainSkills, BrainWare Safari or PACE is a powerful program that net results in less time than typical V/V without brain training.

  3. V/V will continue to strengthen and help integrate visualization skills into the classroom:

  • Stronger Reading Comprehension
  • Your child will be able to read and remember the whole main idea and not just a few details. Main idea, inferencing, cause and effect are some of the questioning methods used for validating comprehension and visualization.
  • Stronger Oral Language Expression
    Your child will have less difficulty organizing their language. Your child will be stronger in areas of staying on topic, sequencing and more.
  • Stronger Oral Language Comprehension
    Your child will be better at connecting to the whole of a conversation and be able to respond on topic and with logical thinking.
  • Stronger Written Language Skills
    Your child's writing be more organized and topic specific focusing on the gestalt and not scattered details.

Program Sequence

  1. Your child will naturally flow into the program from the skills being strengthened from brain training.
  2. First, we will introduce and understand the purpose of the program and importance of grasping the gestalt.
  3. Next, we will begin work on existing imagery learning a distinct structured process for staying on the main topic (image) while providing organized details of the picture.
  4. Then, we will move to working with words only not pictures.
  5. After that, we work on V/V at the sentence level - understanding the main idea even at the sentence level and being able to produce strong imagery.
  6. Finally, the program advances to whole paragraphs and pages of information.
  7. Advanced program members have the option to extend into written expression.
