When
a student does not know how to take notes efficiently, they are often left wondering how they can memorize their entire textbook or study sheet before their test.
The student does not “know” or understand the content and hopes their memory skills will be strong.
Good note taking skills will help you in preparing for a test and understanding your subject.
Learning how to take notes well now, will provide you with success all the way through college.
Like everything, there is a process to taking notes. This is a good thing because it means you can learn how to take notes. You do not need to be born with this skill!
There are many ways to take notes and several different “methods” to doing so successfully.
This session was created with you, the student, in mind. I have taken one of the most popular note taking methods, The Cornell Method, and created an interactive session of several modules. This session is done online with interaction between myself and the student. This session is completed once the cognitive training has been completed.
This session will provide you with what you need to know, how to remember it and make sure you can use the tools yourself successfully.
The Note Taking Session consists of several modules. They are as follows:
I. Overview of The Cornell Method
II. The Five “R’s”
III. Note Taking Abbreviations
IV. Creating/Using Cornell
V. Take Note – Your Turn
VI. Resources
