1. How did you get started writing?
I began writing in 1993 when I worked with a group of colleagues to publish a print newsletter that was distributed in the greater Los Angeles Area.
2. What do you do when you are not writing?
I spend time coaching my clients who are all spiritually-oriented, conscious entrepreneurs or working on other business projects including radio shows, teaching classes, developing new programs and of course, marketing. When I’m not working I enjoy time with my husband and young daughter, practice yoga, deepen my spiritual practice and studies, and love cooking for my family, reading, soaking in a cleansing salt bath and connecting with dear friends and fellow soul-travelers.
3. What would readers like to know about you?
I’d like them to know that I am living, growing, learning, expanding and facing struggles and challenges just like they are. I’m not different than anyone else who chooses to live a conscious path in their life. I believe that my personal and spiritual growth is the cornerstone on which my future will be built… so I dedicate myself to the process of aligning more closely with Spirit and myself, and from that place I work on expanding my loving presence, which I believe is the key to success.
4. What inspired you to be a contributing author in Overcomers, Inc.?
This was a no-brainer for me. Even if I weren’t involved in the publishing company, I would have jumped at the opportunity to be part of this project. Especially now, people are faced with many experiences, feelings, upsets, challenges and changes that they want to overcome. I wanted to offer my story in service for anyone that would resonate with it and experience even the smallest shift that would help them overcome what they’re up against.
5. Why is the topic of Overcoming important to you?
I have (and continue to) overcome many things in my life and if sharing my experience can have a positive impact on someone else, then you can count me in. I am here to serve the readers who will turn to this book for answers, comfort and inspiration in some of their most challenging times. Overcoming is a way of life. There are people who feel overcome by their life, and then there are those of do what it takes to overcome the curve balls of life. Overcoming is part of who I am. And, the process of overcoming has changed for me over time. I used to solely use my “will” to overcome things whereas now I surrender more to grace and to God’s guidance to help me overcome. I anticipate that I’ll be continually striving to overcome life’s challenges with grace and love… until the day I make my transition.
6. Why are you specially qualified to write about this topic?
As I mentioned previously, my life has been about overcoming many circumstances and situations that I would have preferred not to face. Yet, I figured out how to not let outside circumstances stop me in my tracks. I write purely from my experience rather than my intellect and that, to me, is what qualifies someone to teach… when they share from experience. And, that’s the case with me.
7. How many books have you written?
I’ve contributed or written at least a dozen books.
8. What are the titles of your books and what genres are they?
a. The Freedom Formula – Business/Spirituality
b. Conscious Entrepreneurs – Business/Spirituality
c. Inspiration to Realization (Vol. I – III) – Women’s Studies/Inspiration
d. Power and Soul – Business/Inspiration
e. Spirit of Women Entrepreneurs – Women’s Studies/Business
f. Soul of a Woman – Women’s Studies/Inspiration
g. What Nobody Ever Tells You About Small Business – Business
And, more.
9.How do you manage to keep yourself focused and on track when you’re writing a book?
I write in chunks. I may not write for days or weeks, but then I’ll crank out pages and pages at lightning speed over the course of three hours. I find a three hour window is my peak writing block. If I go beyond three hours, the words don’t flow as easily.
10. Do you write to make money, for the love of writing or both?
I write because I love writing. It’s a powerful (and cathartic) way for me to process my own experience and share wisdom with others. I also write to make money, but not so much from selling the books themselves… rather for the “back end” programs and services that I offer based on my book.
11. What makes you proud about your involvement with Overcomers, Inc.?
It is by far the most aligned, well executed, thoughtful and planned book I’ve been involved in. Everything from the first day to today has exceeded my (and I think everyone’s) expectations. It’s a top-notch project!
12. Will you write more books?
Absolutely!
13. What do you have in the works now?
I don’t have a titles or any content yet, but I can feel deep within my soul that another book is being written inside of me. I’ll let you know when I know what it will be!
14. What does the future hold for you and your books?
Whatever God wants it to. He knows the answer to this questions far better than I do.
15. What makes this a book that other people MUST read and WHY?
In today’s day, people need hope, inspiration, motivation and belief more than ever before. This book delivers all of this and more, and it couldn’t be coming out at a more perfect time. Now is the time to overcome!
16. What people NEED to read this book and WHY?
Anyone who has anything circumstance or situation in their life that they’d like to overcome. I know this is a very general answer and not very targeted at all… but it’s true. Anyone up against overcoming something in their life (health, finances, death, sickness, relationships, transitions, career change, etc.) will find something in here that can change their life.
17. What sparks your creativity? Any tips to help others spark their own creativity?
Life sparks my creativity. Let is spark yours. There are creative surges everywhere around you waiting to be expressed through you. Find them, tap into them and allow them to be birthed through you.
18. What do you think motivates people to become authors? What motivated you to get into this unusual industry?
Honestly, I got sick and tired of hearing myself say I wanted to be a published author yet not doing anything about it. So, finally, I decided to do something about it and get published. Being an author is a INTEGRAL part of my overall business strategy, as it should be for any entrepreneur. It’s not my primary “identity” but writing is part of WHO I AM.
19. Tell me about the most unusual things you have done to promote any books?
Well, I basically put everything I had on the line and risked BIG to produce a four-day event based on my best-seller, The Freedom Formula. I hosted, produced and taught most of this event along side people like Neale Donald Walsch, James Twyman and Marianne Willaimson. It was probably the crazies thing I’ve done, but it felt Divinely inspired so I did it and it worked. However, I’m not sure I’d do it again. There was a lot to “overcome” in pulling it all together.
20. If a potential reader thinks that your book wouldn’t interest them, what would you say to convince them to buy? I’m thinking something better than “Its the greatest book ever.” Give me something more specific
Even if you feel your life is a bowl of cherries and you have nothing to overcome… believe me, if you are living a conscious life and on any path of ascension, you will hit some bumps in the road and this book is a critical resource for not letting yourself get pulled off track. You can pick it up and read even a few pages and experience a transformation (big or small). Just keep the Kleenex™ handy because these stories are powerful and profound.
21. What is your final message to our readers?
You CAN overcome the obstacles in your life. Don’t ever think you’re thrown curve balls to be taken out of “the game.” Rather, understand that life never gives you more than you can handle and everything that you face is there for you to learn, grow, overcome and transcend.
