What is PACE?

PACE stands for Processing and Cognitive Enhancement.  Here is a very quick 11 point overview of PACE:
  • PACE is based on the best scientific research available and is continually modified to incorporate new scientific data.
  • PACE targets and trains those skills that are most likely to have a meaningful impact on learning performance and academic abilities.
  • PACE is provided individually to achieve significant results quickly.
  • PACE consists of sequenced procedures to challenge - not bore or frustrate - the student.
  • PACE is provided on a one-on-one basis to allow immediate feedback (error correction and positive reinforcement).
  • PACE improves the student's self-esteem by allowing him or her to actually see the difference in his or her own performance.
  • PACE drives new skills to the subconscious so that they become habitual and automatic.
  • PACE procedures appear to be non-academic so that they are different from the schoolwork with which the student may have had negative experiences.
  • PACE develops meaningful skills that are used in the student's daily activities so that there is a high level of retention.
  • PACE produces valuable results (there is a high return) when considering committed effort, time, and finances.

Telling you how to swing a golf club will not make you a good golfer. Drill and practice will!  Telling you how to play the piano will not make you a good pianist.

Drill and practice will!   See an example of how to increase processing speed

Many studies show that passive, undemanding instruction does not significantly impact deficient learning skills and mental abilities. However, intense, challenging procedures provided one-on-one with careful sequencing and immediate feedback do. PACE (Processing And Cognitive Enhancement) was developed by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to quickly and significantly build those underlying mental skills that are so vital to academic success. PACE procedures are done one-on-one with a trainer. But like a video game, the training consists of many small steps and immediate feedback.  This gives maximum improvement in the shortest time.

As a child progresses through a procedure, tasks are added to it requiring greater attention and forcing new skills to become automatic. Also, once the child achieves a task, distractions are added again forcing greater attention.

Because of this methodology… PACE achieves maximum results in the shortest period of time, stretches abilities, makes skills automatic, and builds tremendous concentration. The results have been outstanding.  The testimonies we get from students and parents are inspiring.

Warning, This takes work!  To get these significant improvements requires work on the child and parents part. PACE requires at least five hours of intense training per week. A trainer can do all five hours with the student or the student can do two hours at home with a parent and three hours with a trainer.

Yes, big results require big effort!

PACE does not claim to "cure" any diagnosis or bring the child to peer level, academically.   PACE strengthens the skills needed for the student to begin closing the academic gap.  For those students at the top of the class, PACE pushes their abilities to the edge to enhance their chances at their goals, perhaps a scholarship.  PACE will strengthen a child's learning skills while building new synaptic pathways.
